Seagate 500GB model comparison

The only thing I noticed in the specs was that the 11 version has 32MB.

Does anybody know how many 500GB models there are, and what's what?

I can't make heads or tails of them just by doing a quick look at the specs.

I found that the 12 is a single platter. So that answers my own question.

But I do still wonder how many 500GB models they have and what the differences are.
 
From what I understand, and i just ordered the .12, is that the .12 is a single platter which is supposed to be much faster than double platter. I have also read some references to the 0.11 not being well liked. Seagate gives the .12 a 160 mb/s maximum sustained rate, and the .11 105 mb/s maximum sustained rate, so the .11 may be double platter.

I might be wrong about this, but the 32mb cache may not make a great deal of difference. I found some tests that showed very little difference between 8 and 16 mb cache's.
 
For what it's worth, my .11 died after about a year and I'm suspicious that it may have been related to Seagate's firmware problems. My replacement has been trucking along ever since just fine, except it has a broken temp sensor that says it's running between 150-170C. Personally, I'd go with the .12 or another manufacturer altogether.
