I'm having a hard time determining if this drive is 7200 or 5900 rpm. Maybe my googling is just failing me but retail and ebay listers say it is 7200 but the few review sites I can find say it is 5900. I even tried searching Seagates site but came up dry. Does anyone have this drive and if you do what rpm is it?

Thanks!

I have one and I seem to recall it's 5900rpm. I'm out of town right now though so I can't check it.

Yeah, it's almost unbelievable how DECEPTIVE HDD makers have been getting. At Newegg, they had the 2TB "new" BarraCuda drive for $59.99. NO WHERE in the product overview, nor "specifications", did it say the RPM, aguably the MOST IMPORTANT SPEC, other than the actual capacity. Crazy!

Imagine if TV vendors, stopped marking their boxes or anything marketing-related, with the resolution, or physical size?

Don't you love google? This was like the third link from the top.

This looks to be update to ST4000DM000 which was a 4 platter drive, the ST4000DM005 is the same drive but with 3 platters instead of 4. PDF also says nominal rotation is 175C which when converted from HEX to decimal is roughly 5900RPM.

Thanks for the info. I did see and read through that pdf but like VirtualLarry mentioned I was looking for the term rpm not nominal rotation. I was also looking for the standard rpm speeds like 5400, 5900, 7200 ect not 175C. I guess I'll need to brush up on my hexidecimal in order to get the info from Seagate....
