the other one wasnt fake, its just OOS now

it was a price mistake. whoever got in, was very lucky.

with that said, unless they have a shipping tracking code they can still cancel it
what happened with me recently with frys/outpost, was that I ordered the Coolmax 2.5" usb2 enclosure for Free AR, and a PATA 400GB Seagate for 90 dollars.

Both items in same order went through, I expected the shipment to come with both items, the box contained only the HDD, as does the packing list. I checked my email again, the 2nd "shipment confirmation" email automatically removed the enclosure. they never sent a separate email letting me know that it was OOS.

There is also a 300GB Maxtor PATA drive for $70 shipped at outpost. I know that both Maxtor and PATA are drawbacks to many, but I thought that I would mention it.

I don't know what made you think the 750GB deal was fake. Frys have no problem of selling 400GB for less than $100 so it's not a stretch for them to sell the 750GB for $160.

Yes, yes it is. When $279 is a hot deal, it's definitely a price mistake.

QFT on karaktu.
Ricochet you cannot apply a $/GB ratio for extremely small or large HDD's
I consider any 750GB drives under $200 to be VERY hot. and even at $200, the ratio is still below the 0.25/gb that you mentioned

By this logic, when 1TB drives come out in the next months, $250 is the standard price? good luck landing that price in 2007.

I just got mine in the mail today and the box says ST3300622AS-RK, but I got a ST3300620AS that is a 7200.10. And the warranty says it is a component on Seagates site. Is the drive I got better than the one I ordered? Google only comes up with non US sites for the 620AS.

Instead of Google, you can search the manufacturer's site!

Just contact Seagate, and they will fix the warranty.

I just read the other post where they had the same problems and I just sent a copy of my stuff to Seagate. Last week sucked and I thought thing would get better this week. Last week I had a 160GB Maxtor drive suddenly lose all my data and Sunday my less than 1 year old 250GB western digital just died. No spin up or anything, just dead. Computers suck!
