Seagate 300gb Barracuda not detected in BIOS or Windows.

Here's my system specs:

Windows XP Pro SP2
1gb DDR RAM
2 Western Digital Raptor 740GD Drives in RAID 0 (This has my windows XP install on it)
Plextor 712-A DVD Burner
AMD 64 3500+
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Motherboard
BFG Tech. GeForce 6800 Ultra OC

The model of the drive is ST3300831A

I'm installing it because my other 120gb data drive died and wanted to use this in its place.

I have tried the jumper setting for slave and for cable select with the drive hooked up to the SLAVE connector on the IDE cable.

I've messed with every IDE/ATA related setting in bios as well and it won't show up.

Anyone know what's wrong here?

technically its a bad idea to put a hard drive on the same chain as a ATA-33 drive. Disconnect the DVD burner and make the hard drive the master

K, I made the hard drive the master and it came up in bios as a 136gb (Which oddly enough is the size of my Raptor drives combined... so maybe there's confusion there) drive... and still does'nt show up in wondows.

137gb is the xp limit but since you have sp2 you should be ok. did you use the seagate software to format and partition the new drive?

I would if it detected the drive.
