You might want to add AR as well as the shipping price to your total in your title.

Was just about to purchase that drive from Outpost but they could not confirm whether it was a 7200.7 or a 7200.8 version so I had to pass on it.....too bad though, $119 AR and free shipping would have made it a pretty nice deal.

I thought all the 300/400GB models were the .8?

Thanks, I assumed it would be but when I called them to confirm they said they had no information which could confirm whether it was .7 or .8. I didn't really feel like taking a chance at the moment. Based on what you've said, perhaps I should reconsider.

I'm 95% sure they are all .8. For those wanting a better price, or just an excuse to avoid TD, Outpost has the same rebate deal, only $10 cheaper and with free shipping.

The Outpost $119 is definitely OOS until next week. I still jumped in on the deal though, I can wait.

I shall recall my statement. I now think I was wrong in saying they should almost all be .8. The .7 is 100GB/platter and .8 is 133GB/platter, right? According to storagereview the 250/400GB are all .8 and the 200/300GB were initially available as a .7... learn something new every day...

The one I received from Outpost is a .8 (check the model # from website and match up with Seagate's site).

And I'd definitely stay away from TD.

Outhouse has the Seagate 300GB ST3300831A-RK UATA100 8MB Buffer - Retail Hard Drive Kit for $119.99 AR. Today is the last day. No shipping cost either.
