I have heard that most people love Seagate's but have not heard great things about the rebate department.

Take it for what it's worth!

Rebate is not specific to Outpost so if you see it elsewhere cheaper, post it!

I sure could use this too but I'm worried they would screw me over on the rebate. I had to contact them on a rebate that they canceled and supposedly it's fixed so I'll wait and see if it comes.

Took 5 months and 3 phone calls to get the last Seagate rebate, Not worth it.

Better deals are always popping up.

I didn't have to call or anything, but I did a Seagate rebate right after Thanksgiving, got the actual rebate last week. Almost 3 months. That's kind of ridiculous.

It's still pretty cheap for this drive. Same one i'm running now. Great drive, quiet and fast. Rebate center sucks though.

Another user here without a single seagate rebate problem. I bought six of these drives throughout last year.

on the rebate form it says one per sku number, so if I bought one last year, that means this is the same deal and I cannot buy another and get a rebate?

WARNING: These Seagate/Outpost rebates are very sketchy. I lost $100 (2 $50 rebates) from these fools. One they claimed was "lost in the mail perhaps" and the other turned out to be mis-labeled and they only gave me $10 back.

I would have to agree with you on all your points. I recently pulled out my wd 120 because of how loud it was making my case since i replace my stock 6800 gt cooler and noticed the next loudest thing in the case was that hard drive. Silent pc review seems to only recommend seagates and laptop drives.

should've called and emailed and complained. i've always gotten my seagate rebates, but usally after 2 or 3 emails.

FYI - the folks over at dealnews.com have officially banned Fry's and Outpost deals involving Seagate rebates

dealnews has received consistent complaints regarding rebates not being honored by Seagate when bought from Fry's Outpost.com. dealnews will no longer publish offers for items sold by Fry's Outpost.com and involving a mail-in rebate from Seagate.

Good for them. It doesn't matter that some people chime in and say they got their rebates. The question is, what percentage of people get them, and how much hassle it was.

I did one of these Outpost/Seagate deals and it took over three months and phone calls and emails to finally get the rebate. Definitely not worth it in my opinion.

Seagate has been good, but in recent past they have been putting out more rebates than they can handle. Be sure to call in on any rebates when the deadline comes up, cause they will definately take their time if you let them.

Excellent drive though, and excellent price. 🙂

this deal is dead now anyways. rebate says last date of purchase is 3/8/05. as far as i know...that was yesterday

interesting.. i got mine last fall when there was one... but again, that was last fall

That's interesting about dealnews... FWIW, I'm still lost in the rebate shuffle from an Early December purchase. I'm still "invalidated" after a phone call and a resubmission, and need to call again today. NOT fun.
