Okay then, I haven't been keeping up w/ the lingo AT ALL. Never referred to IDE as ATA... Usually when I have bought a drive online the specs said IDE and NOT ATA, and I just now noticed looking for drives again that most now say ATA. So kiss my ass that it's been the same thing for years, cuz the stores haven't been using that term till recently.

I just got back from the local CompUSSR. I was also able to pricematch to Walmart for $98.88 plus 5% tax. I just printed out the Walmart page brought it in and got it. I actually was able to pick up 2 of them for that price and had the guy ring the mup separately.

He didn't even look closely enough to noticed it was for S-ATA drives, nor did he noticed that I had the UltraATA100 boxes with me.

Now I can finally put both in an external cases I have sitting around for months.

Arggh. I bought the drive from CompUSA a couple of days ago... then found the Walmart ad... called CompUSA but they said they would NOT pricematch WalMart... only Office Depot, Staples, etc.

i would call the regional office because i believe they are supposed to pricematch non-internet or non-warehouse businesses...http://www.compusa.com/terms.asp#pricing

Thanks for that info. I printed the pertinent sheet and next time I pass CompUSA, will check with the manager.

I notice their policy relates to LOCAL retailers only. Guess I better check the local WalMart first.

Edit: I checked WalMart.. the drives were in stock at the $98 price. I went to CompUSA and requested the pricematch. They gave it... as a special deal.. saying they don't normally pricematch WalMart... and they definitely don't pricematch Sam's Club and Costco.

If that's the case, they need to put those exclusions in their 21day price matching guarantee.
