Credit goes to FWallet forum.

Best Buy:
IDE 160Gb, 8Mb, 7200 - Seagate ST3160023A-RK (6072224): $129.99 - $40MIR - $20MIR = $69.99

Some of you may also have the $15 off $100 promotion that bestbuy.com gave out.
Therefore, it makes the deal: $129.99 - $40MIR - $20MIR = $69.99 - $15 = $54.99

This drive has the new Seagate 5 year warranty!!!

160GB Seagate w/5yr warranty for $69.99 is a good deal without the coupon. Thanks!

i wonder where the $15 coupon comes from

They sent email to some people saying you could get it just by logging in to your BB account online. I didn't get the email and it did NOT show up for me.

Thanks for the info T3.

Just finished buying one of these and its ready for pickup!

Not bad for $54.99!!!!!!!!!

This is right on time. I was getting ready to buy a 120g Seagate from NE for $94. I'll stop at BB in the morning. Too bad the wife just spent the $50 gift cert. I got for signing up w/comcast. Oh, well.

Nice deal. I need a new HD for teh x0bx, this may do it.

EDIT: If you sign in before clicking the above link you get $15 off $100 so:

$129.99
-40
-20

Thanks, but I tried that and there was no $15 off for me.

Three points:

-My rebate forms don't say anything about a "gift card". Looks like cash to me.

-I registered and purchased online and didn't get the $15. I requested store pickup instead of shipping. Maybe that's the problem.

-You have to allow a cookie to set to be able to access the site. Best Buy, ya know.

Bottom line: $65.84 out the door, after rebates.

Just ordered, these also have the 5 year warranty

They may or may not have a 5 year warranty. The seagate site says the following:

The new warranty applies retroactively to applicable hard drives shipped since June 1, 2004

All of these drives at the local bestbuy say 1 year warranty on the box. Seagate most likely goes by the serial number to determine the warranty and you don't know how long these might have been sitting on the shelf.

Quote from Seagate Site:

4. Does the 5-year warranty apply to internal Retail Kit purchased after the new warranty date, even if the printed box indicates only a 3-year warranty?
Yes, if purchased after July 26, 2004 the internal products will have the 5-year warranty. Packaging reflecting the new warranty will soon be on Retail shelves. If Retail customers have questions about the warranty on their internal Retail products, the can access their warranty information at www.seagate.com.

Ahhh crap! I JUST bought this drive about 3 days ago, at 159.99 to replace a failing maxtor, doh! Is there any way for me to get the lower price I wonder...

I bought mine in the store. The box says 1 yr warranty and the seagate.com says it runs out July 28, 2005.

Maybe the retail boxes that say 3 yr are the newer ones?

I may bring mine back and order from the website - the ad claims a 5 yr warranty so I should get it that way.

You could return the one you bought and claim it is defective or that you don't need it after all, then go buy a new one w/ rebates.

Thanks! Finally a good use for that coupon.

What was the warranty change date to 5 years? I bought a Seagate 200GB from Fry's this morning for $69.99AR and it also shows a warranty expiration in July 2005.
