I'm in So. Cal, I'm not a Seafood fan, but I can eat some fish (no shell stuff tho) I got this date and she is big on Seafood. I know there are tons of spots up and down the beach, Anyone have a recommendation for something that's not super pricey, around 20 a plate, more for Lobster and such. Actually price can be more, I don't wanna be cheap I suppose.

she likes shell fish, I have heard things about the "Crab Cooker" in Newport. Anything around the Newport area, or even a little drive is fine.

If at all possible, a place that has some non seafood items, maybe a Steak? I really gotta be in the mood for Fish, and don't know exactly when we're going to go.

thanks

I've ate at the Crab Cooker in Newport Beach. Pretty tasty. I'm sure she'll like it. I also ate a fantastic meal at a very nice restaurant along side the Portofino Beach Hotel when I was there a year and a half ago. I can't remember the name of the restaurant though, however there was about a half dozen expensive sports cars parked infront. They had steak and seafood.

There's a Chinese owned "all you can eat" seafood buffet I know of in Oakland. Damn, their food is good. It's right in front of the Motel 6 on Avenue K.

Sounds like something she'd dig. But... Oakland is kinda far from SO. Cal. With the driving that would be a looooong date!

haha I'm not talkin about LA, OC is fine. As for Crab Shack there is one in Inglewood, I hear they only have shell fish.
I thought about it, I'd like to find somewhere where you can sit ouside by the beach. I heard "Tom's by the Pier" in Redondo is pretty good.

That's Tony's and they're expensive last time I checked. Of course, I have shallow pockets. :(

The atmosphere is good, being on the huge Redondo pier with windows looking out over the ocean, etc., but I really don't remember anything about the quality of food last time I went (it was ages ago). I do remember freezing my ass off on the pier along with my parents during that unusually cold winter.

Here's some places in your budget:

- Killer Shrimp, Studio City / Marina Del Rey
- Bourbon Street Shrimp, West LA / W. Hollywood
- Joe's Crab Shack, Redondo Beach / Long Beach
- Gladstone's Universal, Universal City
- Gladstone's 4 Fish, Malibu
- Chart House, Redondo Beach / Malibu / Marina Del Rey
- Duke's, Malibu

I'd recommend Chart House or Gladstone's -- great atmosphere.
Joe's Crab Shack is really fun and a good date place too.
