I'm planning on buying 512MB of PC133 SDRAM from crucial this week. How does SDRAM work for the athlon? does it work good? or does DDR RAM make a huge difference? The only reason I'm going for SDRAM is coz. I might buy the pentium 4..........SDRAM does work for the pentium 4 now right?.......hence........any opinions?

Don't even think about SDR on the P4. It is like 20% slower than DDR/RDRAM!. On the Athlon welll, today the difference when using a 266fsb about 20% also, so I would get DDR.

if youre going to buy memory now for the athlon, you might as well get ddr. for one thing, its basically the same price, and if you eventually do go p4, you will NOT want to use sdram with it.

SDRAM on a P4 is like putting a six cylinder in an F350... it will make it go and not much else.

BTW, just so you won't mess up... make sure to check that your motherboard supports DDR RAM at all. If it doesn't you are screwed. :p
