Hi, I am currently running an Asus A7V and I am getting ready to upgrade. I am wanting to know if I should get a SDRAM or DDR board. Is there that big of a difference in upgrading to a ddr board to justify the cost or should I save my money and get a faster cpu. If I should get a ddr board which one would you recommend. Thanks in advance.

with the current cost of ram its really a good time to switch to ddr

if i was in your position i would probably get an epox 8k7a and 256mb of crucial ram total cost under $200

if memory serves the mobo is at www.newegg.com for about $130 and the ram is at www.crucial.com for about $60

PC133 is history :). You get up to 20% more performance (not always though) for the same price with DDR memory

Personally, I'd wait on DDR for the newer chipsets that are destined to come out (SiS, Nvidia) if you have a PC-133 system right now. If you're upgrading from an ancient system, then you might want to try DDR.

Yeah, it is definately worth it, if you're going from scartch. I had to deal with the some decision, and I chose to do DDR, since I plan to keep my sys a while. Currently, I'm wainting on the KT266 chip to get better, wait for July, it should be a good Month.

Sounds like you are probably set up okay for now, so if I were you I would wait until some of the new chipsets on the horizon become readily available and have been tested so that your next upgrade will be a really good one. In fact, that's what I am doing.

Some review said: it doesn't. :(

Yeah, it got nothing but Praise over at Hothardware.com. If you like the KT@66 chip, you might want to read the review of the Shuttle Ak31 at Cluboc.net. Good motherboards, I'm waiting for Msi to realease revision2 of the K7T266 though, like the Ak31.
