128 Meg PC133 Ram - $46...
256 Meg PC133 Ram - $95...

Pricewatch...

My question is, is this a transition to a new standard of higher Levels of RAM, or there just too many memory chips out there??? If 256Megs is $95 now, what will it be in the spring when demand goes down.... I wonder if noone is buying now, speculating on getting DDR.... Its soooo tempting to pick up a 256Meg stick....

I know that memory is cheap. But how do you know what kind of memory your getting. I just purchase 3 sticks of Micron 128mb PC133. I had to pay a little more but I know that its good memory.

If your pc will run it buy it, I don't think it can go much lower unless they start giving it away.

It won't go any lower. The stuff is allready below cost; there's no way anyone can hope to sell it and still get even close to breaking even. It'll probably go back up shortly once the oversupply is over.

I've given some thought to this issue because I was wondering how they can keep doing this and I think that is no big deal.
So they bought the memory a month ago at $100 and now they have to sell it at $50 -big deal
The memory that they are buying now for $40 will continue to be sold at $40 until the prices go the other way in which they'll be able to recoup their losses by selling it on the way up. The only tricky part is that they didn't have a warehouse full of the stuff on the way down but even if they did all they need to do is fill the warehouse before it goes back up.

Either way, they'll make their money
