what is the MIR? i didn't see it posted anywhere. do you have a link?

EDIT -- Nevermind, I saw it, with the Kingston Card. That really is a smokin' deal, although I do hate MIRs...

I would've gotten the SanDisk Ultra II 512MB SD Card instead for better performance. Apparently its better for shooting video in case you ever do with this camera.

I'm still debating whether or not I should pull the trigger on this.. I have a pretty good Canon S400 that I use but the size is what keeps me from bringing it everywhere. The SD400 would be sweet, but can I justify having 2 cameras?

SD400 + Sandisk Ultra II 512MB SD - $70 off coupon = $321.64

+ california state Tax, Total = $348.18

I picked up an SD400 the last coupon deal with the kingston 512mb card and it works great. I got it for my daugter and it is tiny, almost cell phone size. She loves it and takes hundreds of pics with this little wonder.

1. Why does it say refurbished in the link for the camera?

2. Are you using the 70 off coupon? Isn't it for 70 off 450?

It isn't refurbished. You can go directly to dell's site and click on the link if you are afraid of that. Yeah, the $70 off is for the camera AND a 512 MB card which brings the total from 399 to about 454 or so (before the % offs).

Regarding the Ultra IIs vs regular SD cards: I have both a 1GB ultra II card and a regular 512 MB SanDisk SD card and they record movies without any noticeable difference.

Last note: I just saw a new post that says there's going to be a 20% off coupon for the camera along with a $30 off $300 or $60 off $500 coupon if you're wanting to explore that route (beginning tomorrow). I dunno if the deals are gonna be that much different regardless.

the sdXXX series are great cameras -- a significant jump in technology from canon s400/500 series.

w00t, went ahead and ordered the sd400 (minus 15%) and wanted to pair it with the 1GB Ultra II Sandisk SD card and was able to talk the sales rep (on the phone) to give me 25% off the 1GB Ultra II Sandisk SD card, and then stack the $70 off coupon as well.

In total:
sd400 (-15%) = $339
1GB Sandisk Ultra II (-25%) = $78
$70 coupon
2% DPA

~$340 + tax for the camera and the card.

Not too shabby for a camera that retails at $399 without the card.

i was about to go for this deal, but seeing that the camera was backordered 1-2 weeks and then looking over at the fatwallet forums. People have complained about dell delaying this camera up to a month or more.
