I'm looking for a 2GB sd card. I found these 2 deals: 1) TwinMOS and 2) Patriot.

The TwinMOS advertises speed as 10MB/s read and 8 MB/s write. The Patriot advertises as 133x and 100x read and write, respectively.

I'm leaning towards the Patriot due to the warranty, but am curious which is faster. Is there some formula to translate MB/x into "x"s?

TIA.

So 133x = ~20MB/s? 150kB/sec / 1024 = .15MB/sec * 133 = 19.9MB/s? The Patriot is twice as fast as the TwinMOS?

The 1x etc is not binary like ram - it's decimal like the mfr's rate the HDs. Close enough for govt work, IAC...

Depends on your application. I don't think most cameras can write to flash at even 10MB/sec.

Thanks.

Actually, I did treat the 133x as a decimal/integer. I divided the 150kB/s by 1024 just to convert to megabytes. I was just wondering if I really multiplied the base 150kbB speed by 133, because I would have assumed a card that was twice as fast as another would come at a larger premium than $12 or so.

It's for a Treo, though. I would imagine it can't take advantage of fast cards the way some digicams can anyway.

Well, if you have a good reader/writer on your PC, it should be able to fill the card up pretty quickly.
