SD Card Failure

I just bought this brand new Scan Disk from amazon:

At first I took one picture on my canon digital camera and it worked fine then I plugged the card into my computer to try to view the picture and that was fine. Unfortunately I forgot to safetly remove the SD card and now when I try to open the SD card from mycomputer, it wont open and says it is Corrupt. I cant format since it freezes whenever I right click on the card...I tried formatting in MS Dos mode using the command format F: it seemed to have formatted the disc to a FAT type but it still says corrupt when I try to open the card....help...thanks
 
So I formatted it in my camera like you suggested and now it works...works on my computer too but when i first put it in my computer it said I had to format it so I did using FAT and it formatted to only 986mb instead of around 2gb...any idea of how i fix this...
