Anyone who has used these - are they as noisy? (I like the airflow numbers, but the 37dBA sounds a bit high to me. The application is for some servers carrying low end (fanless) video cards and relatively quiet CPU HSFs, but lots of disks as heat sources. The servers will be placed in a work space, not an isolated server room, so noise is a concern.)

37 DBM is ridiculously loud.

Scythe's 'SL' model only pushes 40cfm, but at an advertised 10 dbm, which is less than 1/8th of the amount of noise if their measurements are to be trusted.

That's the L, not SL (which is even lower noise and airflow). The OP's fan is the SH - these (there are actually 5 different models) are all same fan, but current limited to different speeds (and hence noise and airflow).

10 dBA (not dBm - that's a power measure, not a SPL measure) to 37 dBA _is_ on the order of 8 times the perceived sound volume, but 10 dBA is _really_ quiet, so 8 times that is still fairly quiet in the grand scheme of things - a bubbling brook, not a hair dryer or vacuum cleaner.

The issue, as you say, is "can their published numbers be trusted to be realistic?", which is why I asked if anyone had actual experience with this fan.
