Not surprising at all. To get the lowest possible temperature requires keeping the large heatplate in touch with the IHS as cool as possible. Stacking heatpipes is bad in this regard. Now moving heat with high starting temperatures will excel with this design but it's defeating the purpose.

A possible application for this (stacked) heatpipe design would be a TEC. Here we would see this leviathan pull away from the others based on its sheer capacity to remove heat.

Thats in fact a GREAT idea. I have a feeling though that a heavily overclocked quad could benefit from this, though no greater than a HDT-s1283 or tuniq. IMHO unless you're running 1.4v+ you're only really getting a 5 heatpipe cooler.

Did you see the comparison with the MASSIVE fan on it, did quite well then. I think the real key to getting good performance out of the big heatsink and the 5 usable heatpipes is going to be a lot of flow, like a pair of delta GHBs in push/pull.

Wow, after first seeing this mammoth I was surprised. Now I'm even more surprised after seeing how it performs. Why would they bother, if no one can fit it inside their case? Even if you could you'd prefer to buy a better performing cooler anyway... If I was Scythe, I'd go back to the drawing board.

Hey, it's not that loud. I don't think. Except maybe on high speed, but it's uh . . . good white noise.

Damn I need to finish that duct.

I see it's already been lambasted here... ;)

Any other new Tuniq Tower killers out there?

Haven't been around for a few weeks...
