After 2 months of usage(stock) my Asus 4870 fan died.Since the card didn't fry I went to Microcenter and picked up a Scythe Musashi dual fan cooler.Plenty of heatsinks in the kit too. After an easy install I fired it up.Before the stock cooler would run about 48c.
Now the Scythe runs 35c (Arctic Silver 5). Even with the fans on full speed it's still quieter than the stock cooler.Only downside to the kit is it is a little longer than the 4870,but not
enough to really matter. At Microcenter it was about 2 bucks more than the Egg so overall
a very good cooler.

How well do they stick? I'm a little worried about stories of various ramsinks falling off, and I don't really want that happening!

The stock Asus had a single sink covering those I replaced them with individual sinks.
I think it will be fine.

Great. If you think you'll be fine then that is solved.

"Everything could have been really great, if it hadn?t been for the VRM components cooling. Look at the second group of results on the first diagram. It appears that none of the alternative solutions can cool these components properly in quiet mode. This is why we only tested the coolers on a graphics cards working at its nominal frequencies and didn?t overclock it: even when we increased the GPU frequency only to 800MHz the card would hang during the test cycle, which didn?t occur with a reference cooler. Even the aluminum heatsinks on these components didn?t help improve the card?s overclocking potential, unfortunately. I believe that cooling solution makers should really consider offering larger aluminum or even copper heatsinks with proper retention for these components on graphics cards like Radeon HD 4870."

Much better than buying a new card lol.The wimpy stock cooler and only one heatsink makes me think the Scythe and extra sinks will do the job.

Edit: Upon a closer look at the installed Musashi,it looks like they didn't even use the heatsinks at all.

Also I'm trying to duplicate their testing methods to see how well it's cooling.
I'll post back with results.

Be careful if you're using Furmark. If the VRM temps are going in the sky, shut it off, since it may do serious damage.

Going slow so far my idle temps are running 2-3 degrees lower than the review.

Edit: During a single run the highest temp It hit was 68c for memI/O
