Hi guys and girls...

am considering buying a Scythe Kitana from eBay (seen 1 going cheapish -£15) to help cool my OCed AMD64 3000+

Do you guys think this would be a worth while upgrade?? (my curent HSF is an awful cheap Akasa, prob worse than stock)

Also will it fit the standard ASUS A8N-Sli (not-deluxe) ??? dont think i have mounting holes on it!!!

Soz for all the questions auction ending soon... and i'm having trouble finding if it fits my MOBO.. :(

thanks again!!!

I have a Scythe Katana and AFAIK it fits all socket 754/939/940 boards that have the standard AMD mounting - basically if it can fit a retail box HSF it can fit the Katana. You take the two screws out of the plastic HSF retension and mount the Katana in it's place.

As for better, it will be a bit better at a bit lower noise. Not super duper awesome, but also not bad for the price - kinda midrange.

both are decent coolers, but if you can find a good price on the Freezer 64 pro, go for it, it will probably perform better than the katana.

The Freezer 64 PRO will perform better, but the Katana will allow you to replace the fan if needed/desired. They're actually really similar - Katana has same number of heatpipes as the non-PRO version and the same sized fan as the PRO version. The Freezer series may have more fin surface area - not sure on this one.
