The retaining lug on the HS holding plastic bracket in my computer broke last weekend due to plastic fatigue and the weight of my Xigmatek HDT S-1283. Thanks to a suggestion from Engineer, I bought this kit.

It was installed today and the metal bracket and backplate seem to be holding the HSF even though it's from a different maker. As someone else said, one can never be sure until one tries. The metal bracket should resist better than the previous plastic one but, just in case, two plastic posts were installed to help support the HSF. The little posts are screwed into the case floor and the fan. I doubt they'll disturb my heatflow too much as the temps seem unaffected.

I guess this won't fall now. Yay for peace of mind. 🙂
