SCSI ???

I got my hands on an old Compaq DeskPro 4000 Pentium II. The motherboard has 1 IDE for the hard drive, and 1 for the floppy. Instead of having a 2nd IDE for the CD ROM it has a 39 pin connector between the floppy and hard drive. The machine doesn't have a CD ROM and I want to add one. I assume the 39 pin slot is SCSI, but I don't know for sure. Is there, or was there such a thing as a 39 pin SCSI?

This post should really bring in the votes for my technical genius... I'd like to blame the positioning of the IDE on the motherboard, but "39" pins just now rang a bell. The connector I'm looking at IS the second IDE. Yes I build computers, and some even work...
