I was going to salvage my Fujitsu 10,000rpm drive (scsi)

Now the opportunity has come to sell my pc but i would have to leave a hd in there, If i ditch the scsi hd (since i had onboard scsi) then i will nolonger have any scsi devices, thereby saving money since i won't have to purchase a scsi card for my new system. What would be a good hd for installing my OS on in my new system (AMD A64 3200+) Asus A8V board. This system will have 2gb of ram and a killer video card, intention - build the best now so it lasts a LONG time.

Should I switch to a top of the line WD raptor? or buy a scsi card and keep my scsi drive (20gb) for my os.

I already have a 120gb wd 8mb cache special edition for data storage.(I plan to move this over to my next pc)

Just pick up the LSI scsi card from newegg.com for ~$40. It's cheaper then getting a new SATA drive.

 to SCSI...any computer w/ SCSI is just...cooler.

In all seriousness, though, why not keep the SCSI drive and throw an IDE drive in the system you're selling?

Oh, and how big is the SCSI drive?

Another vote for SCSI. Show me reasonably priced SATA to which you can hook 15 devices... And if all the SCSI you want is hard drive support, that LSI host adapter mentioned above is a great deal. If you want to add a mixed bag of SE and LVD devices, then you'll need an adapter with at least an SE branch so as not to slow everything down.

the OS drive is an 18gb drive, one of the best scsi drives available - fujitsu got top ratings on it, this is what i thought, ill keep the drive and put a cheap ide drive in it.

Thanks for the input

You don't mention what model fujitsu drive it is, or how old.

I have an older Quantum Atlas 10k II drive, that is still technically faster than my
7200 rpm drives, but would get beaten by the original Raptor drives, not to mention
the newer ones.

I've had my eye on a 10k IV, but I'm still saving up for my new system build in a couple of
months.
