Hello Folks!
SCSI vs Firewire CD RWs
Which is the best one ? What is the Sustained speed between two devices?
For the same Buffer memory, which one is more reliable?
For the same price, Which one I need to buy?

Help me

I have one of each presently. The Firewire is a little easier to deal with . . .and slightly faster . . . but mainly that is because it is newer. :)

I also run SCSI devices chained to the Firewire burner through an Orangemicro Firewire-SCSI converter module . . . no problem there!

With many digital imagers having built in Firewire ports, I can see it becoming a weapon of choice in many cases.

You can now get PCI cards that are Firewire and SCSI combo . . . also from Orangemicro. That is very appealing to me. Max flexibility.

Firewire is not faster than SCSI in general, although for cd-rws it generally is, since cd-rws rarely use anything faster than Ultra-SCSI. The reason for this is that no currently existing CD drive of any type is capable of even bursting faster than the Ultra-SCSI transfer rate. I would stick with SCSI for CD-RWs, due to the greater availability, and lower price. If you have a choice between the same drive in either interface at the same price, and already have both controllers, or don't have either, go with the firewire, because it is easier to deal with, is hot swappable, and are generally more portable.
