Have a Ultra 160 80-Pin Hot-swappable controller for a server. Can't really get any new U160 drives. I can get a U320 Drive 80 pin that is new, but I'm wondering if it will work with my U160 80 pin controller?

Thanks a lot!

A Intel U160 80 Pin RAID Controller SCRU31 Hot Swappable.

And why YES, this controller is old school. VERY Old school!! Its Vintage is 2000 I believe. And since its hard/impossible to find unused U160 HD's these days.... U320 is the way to go.

The only benefit of U320 over U160 is the doubled bandwidth. One drive surely cannot saturate the 160 bus, so you'll be a-o-k.

Think of it like a pata133 drive being hooked up to a circa 1997 motherboard with ata33.
It works, just runs slower.
