SCSI to IDE adapters? Anyone use the ACARD or Addtronics ones?

I just don't want to add my burner to either my main channel or swap channel on my EIDE chain. I have a SCSI subsystem already (Pioneer Slot DVD, Plextor CD, Plextor CDRW, PCMCIA reader, HP 4c scanner) and would like to utilize it.

My SCSI card is an LSIU40SE.

Anyone try one of these?

Thanks

Chris

Adding another PCI UATA/ATAPI/RAID controller would be my choice (disable the secondary on-board IDE channel - you will then have a channel for each IDE drive while still using only 2 IRQs). Costs much less (Syba from dealsonic.com <$25. shipped) and the drives will all work better.
. Last time I looked those adapters cost more than most optical drives these days.

The are about $60-80 new, $25 or so ebay/used.

I just have a really good scsi subsystem and hell can pretty much game while burning with no difference in performance.

I am not so much worried about the money as if it will work/performance.

There is a review of the Acard IDE>LVD on Tom's Hardware and there may be some discussion about it in their forums... I have no personal experience - I just know which path I'd choose. 😉
