Hello all,

after having received and succesfully installed my new drive, the seagate cheetah 36LP, I noticed that when defragging and moving large files the disk ticks constantly. After a few minutes of browsing I found out that it was not the disk but the stupid terminator on the end of my LVD cable.

my SCSI adapter is the adaptec 19160 and I was wondering what I should have to buy to have an absolute deadquiet terminator and no more irritating ticking?? Any links to this product are welcome.

Cheerz,

Peter

there is no moving parts in a terminator from my experienec, it may be an electrical short somethere, try to find out exactly where is clicking is resinating from and report back. you may just need to replace your cable and it will be all set and done.

I have the stock terminated cable from my 19160 (the terminator is crimped onto the cable) and it doesn't tick. Neither do any of my other terminators. I think you're hearing your X15-36LP seeking, whether it's due to traffic or the drive doing self-check/calibration stuff in its free time. My advice: accept it :D
