SCSI Scanner Troubles

Hey everyone!
I have an Astra 600s scanner and it uses a scsi interface. I just went and got an interface card for it and installed it and the scanner. Everything is dedicated and the device manager says there are no problems. However, when I try to use the scanner or do a test I get an error message. It says there is a link error and an invalid port address. It says I should make sure that the port address is consistent with the interface card. I'm not really sure what to make of this or do as I am new in dealing with scanners, especially scsi. If you can, I could use some help. Thanks everyone!

I had the same problem when i upgraded my mobo and had to get a pci scsi card for a Umax vista s-6e. I got a port error also If i remember correctly i uninstalled the umax software and reinstalled it but you have to check for the card during the install or it installs the software for a umax scsi card (came with my scanner isa slot) I'm sorry its a little vague but i remember having to tell it it was a different card and i kinda think it was during the install process just when you do it read each screen carefully try to do a manuall installation not automatic hope this helps like i said i did this a couple months ago. good luck

I have the same Umax 600s..very nice scanner..tried a newer usb one recently 36 or 42 bit 600x1200 ..scans looked like crap..

Anyway..make sure that under Accessories-->System Tools-->System configuration-->Startup that StillImageMonitor is checked ..if not reboot and try again...

If it is checked..what i would do..is check and make the pci card is detected by device manager...and drivers are installed..I am now using an Adaptec 2906 Scsi card and it works well
Make the pci card seated in the slot ok..make the scsi cable is ok..not damaged and properly connected.

If all checks out ok..unistall the Umax software and reinstall..I am using Version 3.11 off the website..I think this right

Reboot and try again
