SCSI RAID card opinions

Looking to put a 2+ drive encloser outside a workstation, SCSI 160 or 320 would be fine.

I hear a lot of good things about the LSi MegaRAID cards, and people shying away from the adaptec line.

Anyone have any good recommendations?

I like the basic LSI cards. I have a basic LSI160U that I use both internally and externally.

Why do you need a raid card for only two disks?

LSI Megaraid Elite 1600. I got mine on EBay for $170! They are mid-level Enterprise quality cards. Highly recommended by the pros here. (not me...I'm a wannabe pro student...)

I got mine yesterday, but haven't played w/it yet b/c my cables are not here...they come in tomorrow. I will be doing a 2-drive stripe and am expecting to see Jesus rise out of my case and congratulate me on how fast it is.

Go to EBay and do a search on "Megaraid." There's always a few cards out there. This card new is still $500+.

The reason it's "cheap" used is b/c it's not the latest and greatest anymore; that title goes to the U320 cards. That's why so many are popping up for sale now; they've been "pushed out" by the new stuff.
