I have been running a scsi rig for about a year now and have had absolutely no problems. I added another drive about a week ago and had to get a new cable- one for 3 drives. The 3 drives I have - 2xCheetah 15k.3's(73gigs) 1xCheetah 10k.6(147gig). My card is about a year old so is only a 160 card- adaptec 29160. As those of you know who have or use SCSI when the computer boots up it checks the transfer to the drives- on a 160 card it should be 160. Thing is since I added the new drive and new cable I am only getting 40- yes I have a terminator. Anybody know why that is? Could it be a bad cable? Or am I missing something, because by no way am I an expert with SCSI.

Thank you,
Emrys

Sounds like one of the drives is forcing the bus to 'single ended' mode which drops max xfer to 40MB/s. Some drives have a jumper to 'force' single ended mode which might explain your problem.

I am getting 40 on all of the drives, and the cable is rated for 320, but since the card is only 160 I am expecting 160 and yes it is a LVD cable.
I'll have to check for an extra jumper on the new drive, although I didn't see one previously.

Thank you for your help.
