SCSI question

I had 5 devices on the scsi chain.

ID 0 internal hard drive
ID 1 internal hard drive
ID 3 External tape drive (terminated)
ID 4 internal hard drive
ID 5 Internal CDROM drive

I removed the ID 4 drive because it went bad. The SCSI bios on bootup sees
all the drives correctly i.e. with out the ID 4. But netware doesn't see it.
Why ? Is there any issues with termination. I would think since it is a
device in the middle of the chain there would be no issues with termination.

I guess I can assume that your controller card supports Novell NetWear drivers (not sure what controller you have), and that you have the current NetWear drivers installed, correct?

Concerning termination, from the looks of your configuration you have the correct termination for your external bus. However, if the last drive on your internal bus ( ID 5 CDROM, from the looks of it), is not jumper terminated, then you must terminate the last drive on you internal bus. Also, check your cables for snug connections.

Do you receive any error msg., i.e., "DPT h CRTL DISK d resetting controller" that appears on your server console? (whereas h = host adapter number and d = SCSI ID). If so, you will typically encounter this message in a heavily loaded system that has a cabling or a termination problem. Also, a faulty device may cause this error.
