SCSI Question - need answer asap

I need to get a new drive for a company server.

They have the compaq prolient 800.
They have ultra wide scsi.

Now which Hard drive can I upgrade to?

The reason is I'm not to experience with scsi yet.

I looked into 36gig cheetah 10krpm for $280 but scsi320 or something like that. If i buy it can I use the drive in the system?
 
scsi drives are very backward forward compatible, however if you buy a drive that has a faster interface than your controller , it is a waste of money

you need to make sure you get the correct connector, 80 pin (SCA) or 68 pin , the size is whatever you want
how old is the server?

unless you provide more info, there is no way to know what speed your controller is

so, unless this server is less than one year old, you should probably get a U160 drive, the U320 stuff hasn't been out that long

maybe you could just pull the old drive and get one that is the same
