SCSI Please help

Maybe I am just easily confused but there are so many different types of SCSI out there guess it confuses me . Questions like whether Ultra 2 and Ultra 3 can be run off of the same controler card or whether you have to have a specific card for each type of SCSI. Also what would be the best and most economical for digital capture? What types can be run off of the same controler card? Thanks I'm pulling my hair out.

this belongs in the tech support forum, but if you buy a ultra 3 scsi controller, you can use an ultra 3 ultra 2 or ultra1 on it (backward compatible) you can run them at the same time even. I would suggest ultra2, you are going to be limited by the pci bus anyways (unless you have 64bit pci) so in that case the 160mb/s transfer rate of the ultra 3 drive only has benefits over the ultra 2 in a raid array (big bucks) I suggest the adaptec 29160 scsi card, I am using one right now, works great and you can find them cheap in the fs/ft forum, or ebay.
