Hi
My dad wants me to test his Tape Backup Drive because he believes it is fault, and it is a SCSI drive. Am I able to just connect that strait to an IDE on my A8V motherboard or not? I know nothing about SCSI which is why I want to be sure before I do it :p

Any help appreciated thanks

No, SCSI is an alternative to IDE that is mainly used in the server market. You either need a motherboard that has SCSI (usually server motherboards) or a SCSI controller.

To make matters more complicated there are many different types of SCSI. See the SCSI FAQ.

Tell him to run a cleaning tape through it, two-three times. 99% of the time, it needs cleaning.
