SCSI...IDE...SCSI...IDE?

Hi guys,

just wanted to get some opinions on this: does SCSI still have "major advantages" over IDE? I am considering getting a smaller size SCSI harddrive for my OS and some apps and a large to very large IDE disk for the data storage. I am also thinking about getting a SCSI CDR/RW and DVD drive.

All comments are welcome. Oh and yes, I am aware of the price difference. But then again, nothing beats a good SCSI hard drive.

In my opinion, nowadays, there are 2-3 reasons to use SCSI:

* drive is on 24/7
* drive needs to read LOTS of small files, or stuff where seek times are important (like database stuff)
* Raid 5

Edit: Don't bother with SCSI optical drives - not worth the money unless you have one lying around.
