i have just bought a akai s3000XL on ebay and need to connect it to my pc with this adaptec ava 2904 pci card.
The connector on the Akia is a 25 pin macintosh type scsi but i dont know what the connector on the pci card is called.
I believed it was a 50 pin.
I then purchased what i believed to be a 50 to 25 pin lead but as you can see from the images it is much larger than the external connnection on the PCI card.
What exactly do i have here and what do i need to purchase.

many thanks
wolfie

I cannot see your picture, but your card uses a High Density 50 pin (also known as HD50) connector, and since you are saying it is much larger, I think your cable is a Centronics 50 pin cable.

You want a DB25 to Micro DB50 (Also known as HD50) cable.

I don't know what termination you have, nor what you want to purchase. Cables To Go has all the various termination types in both full cables, and adapters. So you could do:

DB25 -> Micro DB50:
Cable (also available in 6ft. lengths on their site)

OR

Centronics 50 -> MD50
Gender Changer
Cable

They also offer them in opposite Genders so when looking, be sure to notice what gender cables you got. SCSI, like the interfaces themselves, didn't really bother to lock in the gender either :) Ordering the first cable I linked to sounds like the right way to go in my opinion rather than using adapters, but the options are there.
