SCSI HDD questions

Hello folks. I feel that I have a reasonably good understanding of this technology, but I want to make sure.

I bought two 18gb 15k Compaq SCSI Ultra3 hard drives recently. They should arrive shortly. I also boughtthis controller card. I have a few questions though.

If I want to set these up in a RAID1 array, do I need something more than the card? I saw that there were RAID cards available, but they cost 10 times what I paid for the card I got.

I have the drives and the card and I have ordered the cable. Do I need a terminator? I remember when researching Fibre Channel that a terminator was neccesary.

Anything else I should know?

if you are going to RAID the SCSI drives you need a SCSI RAID card.

You purchased the wrong HBA to do that.

You cannot boot off a software mirror.

Good to know. I will have to sell this card then. No big deal.

What would I need?

Go to ebay and use keyword Megaraid.

An Elite 1600 with 128MB will suffice quite nicely.

Yes you will need a terminator at the end of each cable following the last device.

Yes, you can. Windows Server family RAID 1 is bootable.
