I have a scsi 18 gig and ide 20 gig ide both are 7200 and am thinking of moving os to scsi... what do you guys think? Right now I have the scsi as file storage (really just star trek episodes) and the ide as c:

oh another thing, will I have to re-register my stuff with microsoft by doing this? (i hate this new xp thing...)

By adding the a SCSI controller, it's possible the weighted score may change enough to require reactivation. If the drive is in the same machine already, it's possible it might work. In the end, while an annoyance, reactivation is fairly simple.

IMHO the SCSI drive must push more than the ATA100, and if it's only UW, I don't see that happening. Does it have a better seek time?

I think the Seagate SCSI beats the maxtor by .3 ms... I think the specs are 7.5ms on the scsi and 7.8 on the maxtor
