SCSI Hard Drive Not Recognised

The hard drive I have uses SCSI-3 Wide 80-pin.
I am using a 80 to 50 pin adapter to connect it to the controller.
I have two 50-pin active terminators on eather end of the cable, even though the controller has an optional built in controller

When I go into the SCSI setup, it doesn't show the hd on the list. I have tried putting the hard drive on different numbers, and nothing works.

I suggest that you get an 80-to-68-pin converter for your drive and run an LVD 68-pin cable and LVD terminator. What SCSI card do you have? If you need a SCSI setup cheap, I bet I can find you a card/cable/terminator deal in the For Sale & Trade section, maybe the adapter too.

edit: while we're at it, what exact brand and model number of drive do you have?

well, its a 50 pin scsi card.. I don't know the make of the hd other than its a compaq. How would I find it?

50-pin SCSI for running a hard drive is like... *thinks* ...like having an 8-track tape player in your home stereo. :Q You might send a Private Message to Buck_Naked and see if he's still got his Tekram Ultra160 card/cable/terminator kit available for $50 (I think that's what it was selling for, anyway), if you want to stick with the SCSI program.

Your drive should have a model number on it someplace. I asked because I was trying to gauge whether the drive is worth you spending significantly more money to get it running or not.
