SCSI ERROR - insufficient termination on SE connectors

Im a little new to SCSI here.

First off I have an internal SCSI drive (Seagate 40 gig Cheetah) I have been using (no problems) w/ adaptec 29160 SCSI Adapter.

I recently purchased a SCSI hard external hard drive enclosure, also bought another Cheetah drive.
I purchased a LVD external SCSI cable and LVD U160 terminator to run the enclosure (CRU Data Port V).

So I put the drive in and I get this error "insufficient termination on SE connectors" and it just sits there.
The enclosure holds 2 drives I dont have to have to drives??

I tried plugging the cable into the port I plugged the terminator in thinking I had them backwards but still no good.
Im stuck...this is the enclosure I bought Enclosure
could the cable in it not support LVD?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Chick N. Head

All but one annotation states UW, not LVD. However it SHOULD work as long as the DIN connectors are truly compatible to LVD. Make sure in bios that your controller is set to auto termination, that you have different ID set for each drive, and that terminator is properly seated. Is the terminator on the external enclosure auto detecting with LED on it? Does the LED glow and glow the proper color for LVD? Check for bent pins and good seating on the internal connectors of the enclosure as well. I never did like those DIN connector type enclosures personally. I like the ones with internal cables or SCA connections.

First off thanks for the help. The terminator doesnt have LED here is the one I got Terminator.

Card is set to auto terminate. Internal drive is SCSI = 0. The two drives in the enclosure are SCSI 1 and 2.
It seems to be seated good with no bent pins. After messing with it some more today, I really cant hear the drives spin up
the only real noise I can hear is the fans....

I didnt hook up any of the wires in the enclosure except of course the power/scsi cable....There were a few other connections in there that
went on dip switches but I assumed they were only needed if you used the bays scsi device selector???

Thanks again for any help guys..

Does it use SCA drives or 68 pin drives?

Edit.. reading the item description it says it supports 68 pin drives, so I am assuming the carriers have something that interconnets the power connectors on the drives?

Yes the carries have the ole 4 pin power connectors in them, but since they are independent from the main connector
my thought was that maybe one of those little dip switch looking connectors had to be hooked up to "tell it" there is a drive here
send the power? CRU Data Port V this is the carrier.

Do you have the keylocks turned to the lock position? According to the instruction manual they must be locked to apply power to them.
