Checking a couple hard drives for a friend and one is a standard scsi drive with standard data and power connections. The other is a larger drive with only a single data connection on it. Labeled as a Quantum Atlas 10K. The only question I have is if this is standard for this drive to not have a power connection? Does it get power through the data cable or am I missing something? Thanks.

You'll need a SCSI backplane or an adapter.

Basically those 80pin drives are 68pins plus power. They're hot swapable.

It's called SCA. You're supposed to mount them to a carrier which then slots into a backplane cage.

But if I use these 68 to 80 pin adapters I see everywhere, it should work fine? Thanks for the help.

Yeah, there shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure it's on nice and tight. I've heard of people having problems with them, but I've never used one.
