Ok so i have a 15,000 rpm scsi drive in a work station. It boots into the OS fine and i can work fine for now. I just got this machine. I run the sisoft sandra file system burn in test on the drive and suddenly the drive makes a weird loud noise and the machine locks up. Is this a sign that something is wrong with the drive? or could it be the software causing the issue.

I'm sure its the software. Since the system runs fin i wouldn't worry about it. As always keep an updated backup of the drive and your good to go.

You may want to download the vendor's drive diagnostics and run them against it. Never hurts to be safe.
