SCSI drive is stuck?

I have an Ultrastar 36Z15 (SCA 80-pin) that might be stuck. It spins up just fine, and is recognized by the controller (although for some reason it gives the whole model number, whereas the rest of mine simply say S7Z0). However it instantly fails the Format and Verify commands.

Once it's done spinning up at start, it doesn't make the typical seek noise like my others. It sounds like it tries to a couple of times, but after half a second it just can't do it. I'm thinking of giving it a spin upside-down with a stop, or as i've also heard, to hold it flat upside-down and turn it on its side. Any other ideas?
