SCSI Drive Case Cooling

I just picked up a surplused APS SCSI drive case, dated 1996. I can't find a part number to look it up on their website, but it's got Centronics 50 connections.

Stuck a spare SCSI drive in it, and away I go. But this case has a temp. controlled fan; it's not on all the time. The fan is wired to a small circuit board, and from there comes out a wired temp. sensor, with a small square of sticky foam rubber. The sensor itself if pressed into one side of this foam.

Where should I place this exactly, in the case? On the drive? Face up, or face down? Does the sensor come in contact with the drive itself?

Maybe I'm being too critical, but I don't want to cook this drive. I tried bypassing this sensor, but the fan noise is unbelievable. I'm not listening to that!

Thanks,

TH
