SCSI DLT not found! Please help!

Hi all,

I have a Quantum DLT 4000 and I have tried to install it on a Dell Optiplex gx260, a Precision 220 and even a few Dell 530's. I have used different scsi cards and cables and I cannot get the pc to see the drive. The pc sees the scsi card but it does not see the attached device. I know the device works as I had it working on my workstation as a test to ensure it works. I have tried every thing I know of! The scsi cards are adaptec and I looked at their site and did not get anywhere. I tried to update the bios, but the adaptec bios program states that if the update utility may not work if the card is oem, and all these cards came out of older dells. The cards that I am using are:

AHA-2910C

AHA-2930CU

AHA-2940UW Dual

Does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone ever see this before? Thanks!

Is there something in the pc bios I am missing? help! 🙁

What OS are they running? I use a DLT7000 at home and early forms of Windows (9x basically) won't pick it up. It needs to be on NT, 2k, Netware, Linux for it to work. That may not help you at all, but its a simple thing and I didn't see you mention which OS(s) you were runnung. Best of luck.

The OS is XP Pro. The funny thing is that I have a DLT 4000 running on my workstation with XP Pro, Dell Precision 340 and it works fine. I cannot figure this out! It's killing me! lol

Well...uh...heck, lol. I am guessing you have already checked IDs and termination. Out of those cards you have tried was one the one that was in the machine you tested the DLT on when it worked?
