all Plextor CDRW comes in only FAST SCSI(50 PINS). You must have confused with their SCSI CDROM which comes in both flavors 50 and 68 PINS.

I recently had my Yamaha 8x8x24 SCSI CD-RW die (one month out of warrenty.) Yamaha basically said too bad, so I said bye bye!

While looking for a replacement I came to the realization that the selection, features, price, and speed of the SCSI CD-RWs were just not there. IDE CD-RWs had really become dominant, so I bought myself an ATA100 controller (my mobo's IDE ports were all used) and made the switch.

When I was looking back in Feb., the few SCSI CD-RWs that I could find were slower than the LGe brand IDE drive I bought. They also didn't have buffer underrunt protection. Yeah, true SCSI has less of a chance of a buffer underrun, but if you're multitasking, and something makes your system hiccup for a sec., it still happens.

So however biased you may be against IDE, I recommend taking a look at what's out their. I think you'll see the features and price probably make IDE CD-RWs the best choice.

At the very least avoid Yamaha as I had a bad experience with their hardware and then customer service.
