SCSI CD

Being the absolute moron that I am, I built my parent's computer with a Creative 52X. After you're finished groaning I could use some help on picking a new CD drive. They do have an Adaptec 2903 (I think) for their scanner, so I believe I could put a SCSI CD on there. Am I wrong? I may put on of those $50 - $100 ~4x burners. Recommendations on a good value? And how exactly do I go about putting a drive on a scsi card that's not bootable? As you can see I'm a little new to the SCSI world, so thanks in advance for any help/advice!

If you're just putting CD devices on your SCSI card, it doesn't need to be bootable, that won't make a difference. I recommend plextor all the way, but it can be a bit pricey. At least get the 40MAX, if you can't afford a plex burner. Setting up the devices is easy, you can set the IDs using a jumper, and it doesn't matter what ID you use, just make sure it's different for every device. Also, the last physical drive on the card must be terminated, there should also be a jumper for this on the CD-ROM or CD-RW. Make sure that only the last device is terminated though, both cannot be terminated.
