i have an old mustek scanner with a 25pin and a 50pin scsi port on the back. i would like to hook it up to the external connect on my adaptec AHA-2940 ultra wide scsi card. i think it might be a 68pin external connect. can someone tell me specifically what cable would be best to use. or can i just get an adapter for the 25pin cable i already own? is the business of scsi 1,2,3...etc. an issue?

thanks

If you can find a converter that makes the cables fit together, great....it should work fine.

My two cents....

You may want to use a separate 25pin SCSI card..it is said that 25pin devices will slow down the buss performance on Ultrawide buss if you are using a UW HDD..

i'd like to thank everybody for their replies. that utility on the adaptec page is a big help because it shows an actual picture of the connector. it turns out that pccablesdirect has an adapter that will work for about half the price of the suggested cable on the adaptec site.

Yeah I didn't think you'd buy it there I know I don't but those pics sure are helpful. I like to play with it now and then.
