Can I convert a Compaq SCSI hot swappable drive to a normal pinned SCSI drive?

Is it an 80pin SCA? just get an SCA to whatever adapter

Weird connector inside the cage that holds the HDD, I'll count the pins when I get home. I don't know the proper name of the device that holds the SCSI HDD and slides in and out of the computer case. Compaq Proliant 2500 I think is what the drive was in.

You might not be able to do it... I tried it once with a HD from a raid array... the 5 hd array died so we were left with 4 good drives... we tried them on a standard scsi controller... the scsi utility kept returning drive type errors.... the drives were 68 pin LVD and the controller card was a LVD card.. so I dunno.. you gotta try it to find out... good luck though..

If its a hot swap drive it will be 80-pin, and you can get an adapter quite easily. The only way it would not work is if the drive was defective to begin with.

You will need to purchse a 80-68 pin adapter . Since the Proliant 2500s are regular UW SCSI, no need for LVD capable adapter.

You need to get the drive out of its caddy before you buy anything. For the past few years, Compaq used SCA drives within the caddy. Before that, it was the standard 68-pin connector. Since the 2500 is pretty old, chances are you have a standard 68-pin drive in there.

This was an Oldie, 200 Mhz P Pro.

80 flat contacts, 40 above and 40 below center plastic piece, modified D shape 2.25 X .25 inches. Compaq part # 400867-001. No power connector. MDL # WDE18300-6029B0.

it's a western digital harddrive. buy a 80pin to 68pin adapter.

I have found several SCA 80 to XX adapters, two versions LVD and not LVD, could any of you tell me which one this drive is?

Anybody know for sure who manufactured this drive?

WDE1830A-6029B0 is a Western Digital drive now help me with the LVD part, the SCA 80 SCSI Adapters come in two varieties.
