Scroll Pad on Laptop

My scrollbar on my laptop pad, works in Internet explorer and other apps, but it wont work for some reason in Mozilla FireFox. Does anyone know what the problem here could be? is it a setting in firefox, or is the pad just not made to work with non-microsoft stuff. Is that even possible?
