scroll mouse button and Mandrake 8

i have a microsoft intellimouse three buttons with a scroll. i cannot get this scroll button to work in the kde environment correctly or for that matter with any application except star office. everything seems to be configured correctly. any suggestions?

Well, I configured RedHat for a scroll mouse... should be the same.

I used imwheel to do it. Can't remember where I found it, but do a search on google.com and it is probably the first one. You will have to edit your XF86Config file by changing the pointer section. The instructions are in the imwheel tar.

I believe the instructions go something like this:

un tar
configure
make
make install

edit /etc/X11/XF86Config ( I used vi) and change the protocol to IMPS/2 and one more I can't remember.

restart X

imwheel -k (add the k switch to kill any previous instances of it).

Hope this helps,
